Day 01

Arrive Vancouver

Welcome to our hometown – a famously lovely west coast city, surrounded by mountains and ocean.

Overnight at the Vancouver Airport

Overnight at The Fairmont Vancouver Airport Hotel. This hotel is the only soundproofed, luxury hotel and spa conveniently located within Vancouver's International Airport. The hotel is situated directly above the US departures terminal - a two-minute stroll from the luggage carousels, no shuttle is required. Features include a self-service check-in kiosk in the hotel lobby, floor-to-ceiling views, diverse dining choices and an indoor pool, health club and spa.

Day 02

Into the North – Vancouver to Whitehorse

Head north to Whitehorse, one of the best places in North America for taking in the Northern Lights, also know as the Aurora Borealis. Whitehorse is an especially good viewing site because of the low amount of precipitation – it is practically a desert. This means little cloud cover, and maximum viewing time!

Whitehorse Arrival and Northern Lights Viewing

As you arrive in Whitehorse, your guide will pick you up and take you to your hotel. After an information session this evening, travel to a wilderness cabin with a small group. Learn about the folklore and science surrounding the Aurora Borealis. Soon you’ll see the dancing colored arcs of the Northern Lights above you.

Day 03

Discover Whitehorse and its Wildlife

Enjoy the day discovering the largest city in the Yukon set on the mighty Yukon river. Learn about the land, its people and what made the city what it is today. Later in the day, enjoy a tour to discover the wildlife of the Yukon and soak up some warmth in the hot springs. Finish your day gazing into the dark northern skies, in search of the Aurora Borealis.

Whitehorse Tour & Northern Lights Viewing

This morning, set out with your guide on an orientation tour of Whitehorse. Learn about the people as you stroll down the Main Street, next immerse yourself in the history of the gold rush on a visit to the White Pass Train Station, Sternwheeler SS Klondike, and Log Skyscraper. This evening, sit in the quiet of the Yukon wilderness in search of the northern lights.

Wildlife Preserve and Hot Springs Tour

Take part in an excellent guided tour and enjoy great opportunities to photograph wildlife in its natural habitat: Dall Sheep, Bighorn Sheep, Mountain Goat, Deer, Elk, Woodland Caribou, Wood Bison, Musk-Ox and Moose. Afterward, relax in the hot water pool and enjoy the winter landscape.

Outdoor Adventures in Whitehorse

Embrace the life in the Canadian north with a Canadian classic winter activity. Experience one of the many exciting outdoor activities that Yukoners have been doing for decades.This evening,enjoy another opportunity of northern lights viewing.

After a day outside enjoying the one of Canada's unique experiences, get ready for another evening of searching for the northern lights. Your guides will give you photography tips as the lights shimmer across the sky.

Aurora Hunting Experience (extra cost)

(2 of 2 activities)

Feel like enhancing your Aurora Borealis viewing experience this evening? Escape the city lights and large crowds on a unique Aurora Hunting tour with an experienced guide. You will visit some of the best locations outside Whitehorse in search of the northern lights and to capture to that perfect photo. A true Yukon wilderness experience!

Half Day Dog Sledding Experience

Travel just outside Whitehorse today to meet your team of friendly huskies waiting to whisk you across the snowy tundra. On this signature Canadian experience, you will be shown how to harness the dogs and hitch them to the sled before learning the basics of how to drive your own dog team.

Guided Ice Fishing and Snowshoeing Tour

Spend the afternoon enjoying the fresh winter air on a walk along the frozen lakeside in snowshoes. As you snowshoe along the frozen lakeside, you will look for a good spot to set up for a couple hours of ice fishing. With your fishing equipment, you'll walk onto the ice of the lake where you'll fish for Trout or Grayling through a hole in the ice!

Day 05

Winter Adventures in the Yukon

Spend another day exploring around Whitehorse. Hugged by the banks of the Yukon River, Whitehorse is the perfect base for winter adventure.

Northern Lights Viewing

Tonight marks your last evening in Whitehorse and opportunity to view the magnificent Northern Lights. Savour the quiet and vast landscape of Canada's north while you stare into the darkness and winter skies of the Yukon.

Southern Lakes Sightseeing Tour

(1 of 2 options)

Departing from Whitehorse you head south on a scenic drive along the South Klondike Highway to Carcross, a small community on the shore where Bennett and Nares Lakes meet. Continue on to a stunning viewpoint over Tagish Lake and Bove Island before heading back to Whitehorse.

Half Day Snowmobile Tour

(2 of 2 options)

Snowmobiling is a fun and exciting pastime for many Yukoners young and old! Snowmobiling through the Yukon’s unspoiled wilderness, will bring you to places you would not get to easily by foot, snowshoe, or dog team. Learn the basics and safety rules before heading out on your guided trip. All machines run with 2 people.

Day 06

Return to the West Coast – Whitehorse to Vancouver

Your great northern winter adventure comes to a close as you head to the airport for your flight back to Vancouver. Enjoy the flight back as you watch the changing landscape on the way to the West Coast.

Wake up this morning after a night of searching for the Aurora Borealis to head down and enjoy breakfast at your hotel or at one of the local cafes nearby. After breakfast and packing your luggage, check out of your hotel, and meet your shuttle to take you to the airport in time for your flight.

SEASONAL RESTRICTIONS

  • Northern Lights Viewing: Viewing of Northern Lights can not be guaranteed during any time of the season as the skies need to be clear with no cloud coverage. Weather conditions affect the opportunities and is hard to predict the best times. Ensure you book multiple nights in Whitehorse so that you can increase your chances of viewing the northern lights.
  • Whitehorse: The Private Aurora Hunting Experience will be replaced by a group tour during the dates of Dec 20 to Dec 31, 2019.
  • Half Day Dog Sledding Experience: Early and late dog sledding tours may not operate due to seasonal snow conditions and higher temperatures.
  • Ice Fishing and Snowshoeing Tour: This tour is dependent on the ice on the lake reaching a certain thickness that is deemed safe for walking on. Due to unfavourable weather conditions in the early and late season, the tour may be unable to operate.
  • Southern Lakes Sightseeing Tour: Tour is not available from Jan 12 to Feb 1, 2020 - ask your Vacation Advisor about the other great alternative options available during this time.
  • Half Day Snowmobile Tour: Tours are snow and weather dependent and may not be able to operate in early November and late March/April. Also weather temperatures may affect the tour being able to operate.
