Vancouver’s fresh ocean air is as invigorating as its setting is breathtaking as you start your classic Canadian winter train vacation. Vancouver’s relatively mild weather is an excellent introduction to a Canadian winter, but look to the north and discover the winter scene you’ve been dreaming of – Vancouver’s coastal mountains stand before you covered in pure white snow.

Overnight in Vancouver

Overnight at the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver. The Pan Pacific Hotel is uniquely located atop Canada Place, in the heart of the downtown waterfront. Your luxury accomodations rise above the cruise ship terminal and the Convention Centre, with some rooms having sweeping views of the Coastal Mountains and the city skyline. This morning the excitement builds as you board the Canadian Train for your overnight journey to the Canadian Rockies.

This is one of the most memorable days of your Canadian vacation! Wake up onboard The Canadian train to trees blanketed in fresh snow as you near the Canadian Rockies. The snow is glistening in the mountain town of Jasper. Step off the train and take a deep breath of the fresh mountain air, you have arrived!

Maligne Canyon Ice Walk Tour

Strap on some ice cleats and walk the floor of Maligne Canyon today with an expert guide and small group. You’ll be surrounded by icefalls and rock formations that will take your breath away. Learn about Jasper’s Maligne Valley and disappearing Medicine Lake as you walk approximately 3.5 km (2.1 miles) exploring one of Jasper’s most impressive winter treasures.

Jasper Downtown Food Tour

Enjoy a short guided walk where you will visit four restaurants and taste four carefully handpicked dishes, each paired with an alcoholic beverage. Along the way you will learn about Jasper’s history.

Overnight in Jasper

Overnight at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. Nestled in Alberta's magnificent Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the iconic Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge resort is surrounded by stunning mountains and wildlife seven kilometres (4.3 miles) from the Jasper townsite. The main lodge accompanies 56 adjacent cedar chalets and luxury signature cabins, connected by picturesque paths.   • Train schedules are subject to change and delays may occur.


  • Onboard VIA Rail: From April 29 to Oct 12, Sleeper Plus passengers will be able to access the Park Car and Panorama Car between 4:00pm and 10:30pm only.
  • Maligne Canyon Icewalk Tour: Departures in December and late March/April, can not be guaranteed as the tour is weather dependent and requires optimal snow and ice conditions to operate.
  • Lake Louise Sleigh Ride: This tour is weather dependent and relies on optimal snow conditions in order to operate, departures in December and April could be affected.
  • Dogsledding Tour in Lake Louise: Departures in early December and late March/April may be affected due to weather conditions and not optimal snow conditions. Tours do not operate when temperatures are below - 25 degrees Celsius for the safety of the dogs, guides and guests.

I could go on forever about how wonderful the trip was

Everything went extremely well. Every hotel was beautiful and comfortable. Lake Louise was outstanding. The fondue dinner was fantastic. Our favorite thing was the dog sledding. The best! I could go on forever about how wonderful the trip was. We love Fresh Tracks!
